Brittain & Associates Insurance, a family-owned business since 1984, is an independent agency covering all areas of insurance. The agency contracts with many different companies to offer the best coverage at a fair price. The agency offers a fully licensed staff and offers Commercial, Personal, Life, Health and Annuity coverages.
Our History
L.D. Schreiner Sr. started in the agency in the 1940’s. When L.D. Schreiner Jr. joined the firm in the 1960’s, the roots of a family tree established themselves and began to grow. As the years passed, many branches were added and grafted onto the trunk and strengthened the tree. Each family ownership improved the field of insurance through continual education and being involved in the community.
In 1984 Kevin Brittain and Gary Cruson partnered to purchase the agency and incorporated as Brittain & Cruson, Inc. After a few of years Kevin bought the interest of Gary and continued to build the business by guiding and educating clients. Kevin and Doris Brittain incorporated to Brittain & Associates, Inc. in 1989 and found claims service was the most rewarding aspect of the agency. For an agent to be able to immediately “Be There” for a customer from submission to settlement created the bond of friendship and loyalty for years to come.
With a focus on keeping the agency at the forefront of technology, Kevin upgraded from a paper filing system to a software system to increase the reliability of the business accounting. He then searched for a solution to operating the entire agency. He found this solution in 1992 through a company called Applied Systems, Inc. Both the agency and the insurance carriers could now use the same program giving every person on staff the ability to use all information. Scanning pictures and policy information into client files, uploading client’s payments, and downloading policy information directly from the companies each day followed quickly.
In 2002 Brett Brittain decided to return to Clinton and learn the insurance business. After five years working with his parents, he was able to purchase the agency. His mother, Doris, continued to work in the agency for another five years before she also retired.
Brett attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a focus in Marketing and Management. Brett purchased the business from his parents in 2007. Brett has earned two separate accreditations. One as a Certified Insurance Counselor and the other as a Certified Risk Manager. He has served as the Chairman of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, President of the Noon Lions Club, twice, and was honored as Businessman of the Year in 2011 by the Rotary Club of Clinton.
Doris wrote this jingle and put it to music while returning to Oklahoma from Georgia in the year 2000. The local radio station plays it as a commercial during all Clinton Red Tornado sports broadcasts.
